New Mexico Midwives

   I am a Certified Professional Midwife, registered in Colorado. I have been joyfully attending births in Colorado Springs and surrounding region since 1998. My love of childbirth began when I gave birth to my first child at home in 1995. It became a passion when my husband caught our son at our second home birth a few years later. I believe every woman is entitled to the birth she desires, wherever that may be. It is my goal to make the home a safe and comfortable environment in which to welcome a birth.

    I provide comprehensive prenatal, birth and postpartum care: including labwork, ultrasound, urinalysis, blood pressure monitoring, fetal growth measurements and nutritional assesment. I also have my own ultrasound machine in office, so my clients have the option of learning the gender of their babies, or taking home a keepsake photo to share. A mother can expect to receive the same basic clinical care she would find with a physician, but with one hour check-ups to help build a relationship of care and trust. I am also a massage therapist with 12 years of experience, and I hold an advanced degree in Naturopathy, which I am happy to integrate into my practice to encourage healthy mothers and babies!

    I highly recommend water birth. I have water proof equipment, and I attend several each month. My clients are able to use my LaBassine labor pool for no additional cost, and can reserve an upgraded tub for a small fee. I work with several qualified birth assistants. However, you may chose whom you wish to assist at your birth. You receive the care of two midwives for the price of one!  I have flexible payment plans, and accept all major credit cards. Most PPO insurance covers midwife care (ie: Cigna, Aetna, UHC, GreatWest, PacifiCare).
